Five Minds For The Future

We live in a time of relentless change. The only certain thing is that new challenges and opportunities will emerge that are virtually unimaginable today. Just consider the advent of AI. The question leaders need to answer today is what are the skills they need to equip themselves with to succeed?

In Five Minds for the Future, first identifies five critical “mindscapes” and then explores how these aspects of the mind can be applied in first identifying problems and then solving them. They include:

  • The disciplined mind is to learn at least one profession and the major thinking (science, math, history, etc.) behind it.
  • The synthesizing mind organizes massive amounts of information and communicates effectively to others.
  • The creating mind, revels in unasked questions - and uncovers new phenomena and insightful apt answers.
  • The respectful mind, to appreciate the differences between human beings - and understand and work with all persons.
  • The ethical mind is to fulfill one's responsibilities as both a worker and a citizen.

Without these minds, we risk being overwhelmed by information, unable to succeed in the workplace, and incapable of the judgment needed to thrive personally and professionally as we evolve into an ever more complex and interdependent environment.
